Was the 2016 U.S. presidential election stolen by the Russian government and Trump's campaign aides?
Seems like we're to have to wait a little longer to figure out. As you have probably heard, F.B.I. Director James Comey, the man leading the investigation of collusion between Russia and the Trump political operation, has just been fired by Trump himself.
That's one way to send a message, to the F.B.I., and to the American people. According to insiders, the investigation has already been dealt a massive setback by the firing.
As Congressional Republicans have been investigating the Trump-Russia connection with all the diligence of embarrassed bystanders, it is time to demand the appointment of special counsel who will investigate the matter with the attention and impartiality the situation demands. The attorney general has this power, and it's time he used it. But he needs to feel pressure in order to do the right thing. You're that pressure.
If you have 5 minutes: Call your senators and urge them to call for an independent investigation led by special counsel.
If you have 10 minutes: Write a Letter to the Editor of your local paper or alt-weekly denouncing Trump's attack on this investigation, and ask others to do the same.
Thank you for the work you're doing. Together we're making change happen.
